Christian Faith Expressed Through Art
Martin Osner’s faith-inspired art reflects a deeply personal journey shaped by his Christian faith and a desire to express meaning through creativity. This collection brings together paintings, mixed media, and photographic artworks that explore themes of grace, redemption, guidance, hope, and the quiet presence of God.
Rather than being overtly literal, many of these works express faith symbolically — through light, texture, atmosphere, and form. Each piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and connect with something beyond the visible, offering a sense of peace, strength, and deeper understanding.

Be Still
Be Still is a powerful, faith-inspired artwork by Martin Osner that reflects a moment of quiet surrender and inner stillness. The silhouetted figure, layered with fragments of text, speaks to the tension between the world's noise and the calm found in faith. Subtle markings and embedded words suggest prayer, reflection, and the search for peace within.
Created with layered mixed-media techniques, the work is rich in texture and contrast. Deep, dark tones are set against fiery, expressive colour, symbolising both struggle and presence. This original piece is both bold and contemplative, offering a visual reminder that in stillness, clarity, strength, and spiritual connection are restored.

Eternal Shepherd
Eternal Shepherd is a faith-inspired artwork by Martin Osner, reflecting a quiet moment of guidance, trust, and belonging. A solitary shepherd walks forward through the landscape as his flock gathers around him—some close, others ahead, and a few gently behind, all moving under his care toward the light.
Inspired by the words, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27, the work speaks of spiritual guidance and the enduring relationship between shepherd and flock. Created with palette-knife techniques and layered textures, the painting carries both strength and stillness, inviting reflection on faith and direction.

Connection
Connection is a faith-inspired limited edition photomontage by Martin Osner, created from a mural by graffiti artist Faith 47 originally painted in Woodstock, Cape Town. The original artwork featured a single beam of light, while Osner’s interpretation introduces a second light entering the figure’s hands, symbolising the idea that what is received from God flows outward into positive thought and action. This piece stands as a powerful example of artistic photography, preserving a mural that no longer exists and transforming it into a contemplative work of spiritual meaning.

Adorned #2
Adorned No. 2 is a faith-inspired mixed media artwork by Martin Osner, reflecting the strength, grace, and quiet resilience of a woman who carries responsibility with dignity. Inspired by the artist’s mother, the work combines a photographic base with hand-painted acrylic and metallic detailing, where each wooden form becomes symbolic of both burden and beauty. Subtle spiritual elements, including the Lioness of Judah and the phrase “by His stripes you are healed,” reveal a deeper narrative of faith, healing, and reliance on Jesus.

INRI
INRI is a deeply personal portrait of Jesus by Martin Osner, created as an expression of faith and devotion. Inspired by a historic painting by Gabriel Max from the 1870s, the work has been reinterpreted through Osner’s artistic process, with the addition of a halo, layered textures, and the inscription INRI—meaning King of the Jews—bringing a renewed sense of reverence and presence to the image.
Unlike traditional depictions, in which the eyes appear to open and close, this interpretation keeps the eyes closed throughout. This reflects a deeper spiritual message—that one of the greatest gifts given to man is free will. The work suggests that Christ responds only when invited, and only then will His eyes open to you, making this piece both contemplative and profoundly symbolic.

Son of God
Son of God is a deeply personal portrait of Jesus by Martin Osner, created as an expression of faith and devotion. This mixed media artwork presents a quiet, contemplative depiction, where the traditional crown of thorns is replaced with gold leaf—symbolising not suffering, but majesty, reverence, and the divine nature of Christ.
Printed on fine art paper and hand-embellished with gold leaf, the work carries a subtle yet powerful presence. The soft, layered textures and gentle light invite reflection, offering a visual expression of worship and honour, and celebrating Jesus not only as the suffering servant, but as the Son of God in glory.

Eden
This faith-inspired painting depicts the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden, symbolising the fine line between good and evil. The tree itself remains constant—unchanging in form—while the background shifts subtly in tone, revealing a quiet tension between two states that appear similar, yet carry very different meanings.
Through layered texture and expressive surface work, the piece draws attention to this contrast, suggesting that the difference between right and wrong is often not obvious but revealed through discernment and choice. Both visually balanced and conceptually powerful, the artwork invites reflection on the nature of free will, awareness, and the decisions that shape one’s path.
